Differdange AUJOURD'HUI

Differdange et ses entités ( Obercorn, Niedercorn, Lasauvage, Fond de Gras ) sont bien connues sous le nom de la Cité du Fer. Située au Sud du Grand-Duché, Differdange est la 3e ville du Luxembourg. Cette localité de 19.000 habitants qui est marquée par l'industrie lourde, possède une histoire, de nombreuses traditions dans le domaine culturel, social et industriel. Autrefois l'ARBED exploitait plusieurs centres de production : ses poutres spéciales (les poutres Grey) étaient connues dans le monde entier sous le nom de « Differdinger ». Aujourd'hui l'ARBED (ARCELOR) conserve à Differdange un centre d'usinage de fer brut toujours orienté vers la fabrication de profilés pour gratte-ciels, plates-formes de forage et ponts. La commune se trouve dans la vallée pittoresque de la Chiers. Son territoire se répandit de manière équivalente entre deux zones : d'une part les habitations, l'industrie, et d'autre part la nature. Celle-ci constitue une richesse que le pouvoir politique souhaite davantage mettre en avant. La revalorisation des anciennes friches minières est un bel exemple de cet effort: Exemples:( « Sentier Thématique Giele Botter » , « Sentier Géologique Giele Botter » et la rénovation du « Parc Grouwen »). Au centre de Differdange, au parc Gerlache, on peut se reposer auprès de cette magnifique horloge entourée de fleurs. De jolies promenades invitent autour du restaurant touristique « Bache Jang » où on déguste la traditionnelle tartine au jambon après avoir fait de l'équitation sur de jolis ponys. Reste à recommander le circuit autopédestre A. Ungeheuer, d'après le résistant differdangeois Albert Ungeheuer, fusillé en 1944. Au « Centre Noppeney », auprès d'une remarquable collection de fossiles on pourra également voir de près les ustensiles des mineurs de jadis. En été, on aime bien se détendre pendant les beaux jours sur la pelouse ensoleillée de la piscine en plein air avec toboggan et aires de jeux. Differdange est une ville qui vaut bien le détour et où il fait bon vivre.

Differdingen mit seinen Nachbarorten ( Oberkorn, Niederkorn, Lasauvage, Fond de Gras ) ist bestbekannt als Stadt des Eisens. An der Südspitze des Grossherzogtums gelegen ist sie die drittgrösste Stadt Luxemburgs. Differdingen ist durch die Schwerindustrie geprägt. Mit seinen 19.000 Einwohnern pflegt die Stadt ihre soziokulturellen Traditionen, die aus einer bewegten Vergangenheit wuchsen. Früher nutzte die ARBED mehrere Produktionszentren: seine Spezialträger, "die Greyträger" waren in der ganzen Welt unter dem Namen "Differdinger" bekannt. Heute ist die ARBED (jetzt "ARCELOR") weiterhin auf die Verarbeitung von Roheisen zum Bau von Wolkenkratzern, Bohrtürmen und Brücken orientiert. Die Gemeinde ist im pittoresken Tal der Korn angesiedelt. Das Territorium verteilt sich gleichmässig auf zwei Zonen: auf der einen Seite das Wohngebiet mit der Industrie, auf der anderen Seite die Natur. Diese stellt eine Kostbarkeit dar welche von der Stadtverwaltung auch in Zukunft prioritär behandelt wird. Die Aufwertung der ehemaligen Bergbaugebiete mit der Umwandlung zu Naturreservaten wie dem "Giele Botter" mit seinem "Entdeckungspfad" seinem "geologischen Rundwanderweg",sowie die Restaurierung des " Park Grouven" sind beste Beispiele dieser Bemühungen. Im Differdinger Gerlache-Stadtpark kann man neben der kunstvollen Blumenuhr eine Rast einlegen. Hübsche Spazierwege findet man rund um das Ausflugslokal "Bache Jang", wo man die traditionelle "Hameschmier" geniessen und auf Ponys reiten kann. Zu empfehlen ist auch der " Rundwanderweg A. Ungeheuer" ( benannt nach dem 1944 erschossenen Widerstandskämpfer Albert Ungeheuer) . Im "Centre Noppeney" kann man die Utensilien der Bergarbeiter sowie eine schöne Fossiliensammlung betrachten. Sehr beliebt ist im Sommer das herrliche offene Schwimmbad mit Wassertoboggan und Spielplätzen in Obercorn. Differdingen ist eine Stadt welche einen Umweg wohl würdig ist und wo es sich gut leben lässt.

Differdange with its neighboring villages ( Obercorn, Niedercorn, Lasauvage, Fond de Gras ) is best-known as the City of the iron. Situated in the south of Luxembourg, the town is today the country's third largest city. With a population of 19.000 inhabitants, Differdange which is marked by the heavy industry, cultivates its socio-cultural traditions which grew from a busy past. In the past the ARBED used to use several production centers: its special girder, the Grey-girders, were well known in the whole world under the name of Differdinger. Today the ARBED (now ARCELOR) is still oriented in the production of pig iron for the construction of skyscrapers, derricks and bridges. Differdange is settled in the picturesque valley of the Chiers. The territory spreads out equally into two zones: the residential area with the industry and on the other side the nature. This one represents a preciousness that the municipal authority treats also in future with priority. The upgrading of the former mining areas by the transformation into nature reserves like the "Giele Botter" with its "Discovery path" and its "geological route", as well as the restoration of "Park Grouven" are best examples for these efforts. You can have a rest in the Differdinger Gerlach park next to the artistic flower watch, but you also will find pretty paths around the tourist café "Bache Jang" with its traditional ham sandwiches and where you enjoy riding on ponies. The "rambling route A. Ungeheuer", named by the resistance fighter Albert Ungeheuer who was killed in 1944 can also be recommended. In the "Noppeney Centre" you look at the utensils of the miners besides a beautiful fossil collection.. The marvelous open swimming pool in Obercorn is very popular with its water toboggan and its playgrounds in summer. Differdange is a town which deserves a detour and where it can be well lived.
